Hi! I'm Shelly

Shelly is an MPhil Sociology student at Selwyn College, University of Cambridge, exploring the intersections of cultural studies with the creative arts. Before Cambridge, she studied for a Bachelor of Music at Guildhall School of Music & Drama (2020–22) and Goldsmiths, University of London (2022–24).
She is a clarinettist, composer, and an enthusiastic photography, illustrator and designer. Her academic work focuses on digital media sociology, internet cultures, cultural production, and the dynamics of work and labour.
Beyond the arts and academia, she is an avid boxer and currently the Director of Programmes of Boxing is Love, a charity aimed at fighting structural inequalities in and beyond the ring through Boxing, Research, and Artistic Expression.
She previously co-founded The Social Canvas Projects (Dec 2023–Apr 2024), a series of three creative initiatives responding to global conflicts through the arts. The projects engaged over 100 students across artistic disciplines and drew 1,000+ visitors, including renowned figures like Ai Weiwei and Gabriel Prokofiev, who supported the mission voluntarily.
